The BodhiSol Story: A Hagman Adventure

We are a team of two brothers (Jonathan and Alex Hagman) and a sister-in-law/wife (Jess Hagman). We live in Carbondale, CO (Jonathan) and Fort Collins, CO (Alex & Jess) and we import teak wood from our partner teak farms in the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. â€‹

Inspired by Jonathan and Alex's dad, Tim Hagman, who was an award-winning Aspen-based architect, kayaker, skier, mountain biker, and world traveler, we continue that adventuresome legacy. A Hagman Adventure represents following creative intuition and a good feeling, without a path to follow, knowing that you’re capable of each step along the way to success. BodhiSol is the ultimate Hagman Adventure. â€‹

The name BodhiSol captures our business values:

  • FAMILY: We started BodhiSol as a way to work together as a family and to pass on a business to our next generations. BodhiSol is named after two of the youngest Hagmans.

  • SUSTAINABILITY: The Bodhi Tree is the tree the Buddha sat under while he became enlightened, and Sol means "sun" in Spanish. Our business thrives on the amazing Teak trees that grow under the hot sun of the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. Our drive to sustainability throughout every stage of our business is motivated by thinking of future generations.

  • COMMUNITY: We work in partnership with farmers and millers in Costa Rica and creative artists and builders in Colorado, and value being in community with them. This means much more than the occasional sharing of a meal. To us, community is working with our Tico (Costa Rican) and Colorado partners to protect the land, provide living wages, and produce a beautiful and valued product.
